Senator Wingard Issues Statement on Incident at Pauls Valley High School

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Jonathan Wingard, R-Ada, released the following statement after the principal at Pauls Valley High School was injured during a shooting at the school.

“I’m relieved that Principal Kirk Moore is in stable condition and recovering after the shooting at Pauls Valley High School yesterday. It’s truly a miracle that his injuries were not more severe. I’m grateful for the quick response from local law enforcement and first responders who got the situation under control.

"I am certain that Principal Moore’s courage, quick thinking, and decisive action saved lives. He stepped in and literally took a bullet to protect students and staff. He is a hero in every sense of the word. I ask everyone to join me in praying for his full recovery, and please keep everyone who witnessed this terrifying incident in your thoughts and prayers. It’s heartbreaking to see a school shooting, but I’m grateful that no children were hurt. As the Pauls Valley community grapples with how to move forward, I know that we will emerge from this averted tragedy stronger, better prepared and more vigilant than ever."
