Senator Spencer Kern Elected to National Leadership Role Representing State Agricultural and Rural Policy Leaders

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Spencer Kern, R-Duncan, was elected to serve as Secretary of the State Ag and Rural Leaders (SARL) Board during the organization’s annual Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit, held January 3-5 in Louisiana.

“I am honored to have been elected by fellow state lawmakers from across the country to serve as the Secretary of SARL,” Kern said. “In this role, I look forward to collaborating with fellow agriculture leaders to ensure that farmers and ranchers' voices are heard, their challenges are addressed, and polices are advanced to support rural communities and strengthen the agriculture industry.”

As secretary, Sen. Kern will help support the board in strengthening cooperation, leadership, and policy development among North American agriculture leaders.

“As a rancher, I know the challenges and rewards that come with rural life, and I know firsthand why supporting farmers and ranchers is one of the most important responsibilities we have. I look forward to working with my peers and learning from one another through our shared industry experiences,” Kern added.

Kern will serve on the board alongside Senate Agriculture and Wildlife Committee Chair Senator Casey Murdock.

“Senator Kern brings a wealth of experience in agriculture and rural affairs to this role,” said Sen. Casey Murdock, a member of SARL’s legislative board. “He has been a strong advocate for Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers, and his leadership will ensure our state has a strong voice as SARL works to support and grow our nation's agriculture industry.”

SARL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit comprised of state legislative agriculture chairs and lawmakers from across the United States, as well as elected officials from Canada and Puerto Rico.
