Senator Hamilton, Representative Turner Receive Oklahoma District Attorneys Association’s Bulldog Award
OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, and Rep. Tim Turner, R-Kinta, have received the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association’s 2026 Bulldog Award in recognition of their leadership and commitment to protecting Oklahoma families and communities.
The Bulldog Award recognizes legislators who demonstrate determination and effectiveness in advancing public safety and supporting the pursuit of justice. Both lawmakers represent Haskell, LeFlore and Pittsburg counties. The two also received the association’s Liberty Bell Award in 2025.
“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association,” said Sen. Hamilton, chairman of the Senate Public Safety Committee. “Protecting victims, standing up for their families and holding criminals accountable are priorities that guide my work in the Legislature. I’ll continue fighting for policies that strengthen public safety and help make Oklahoma a safer place to live. I appreciate the association’s partnership in these shared goals and ensuring prosecutors have the tools necessary to make sure criminals are where they belong, behind bars.”
Hamilton was recognized for his work on legislation, strengthening protections for children and increasing accountability for criminals who put Oklahomans at risk.
House Bill 3040, which Hamilton carried in the Senate, expands restrictions on registered sex offenders by extending the 500-foot loitering prohibition to additional facilities, businesses and locations primarily serving or providing services to minors. The measure adds another layer of protection for children and helps close gaps in existing law.
Hamilton also served as the primary Senate author of Senate Bill 137, which makes inmates convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) resulting in an accident involving great bodily injury ineligible for the Department of Corrections’ Electronic Monitoring Program. The measure strengthens accountability for criminals whose actions cause serious physical harm.
The association also recognized Turner for his consistent leadership on public safety legislation and his strong support for law enforcement and prosecutors. As vice chair of the House Appropriations and Budget Public Safety Subcommittee, Turner has worked to advance policies that protect crime victims, support prosecutors and strengthen communities across Oklahoma.
“I’m incredibly grateful to receive this recognition from the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association,” Representative Turner said. “Protecting Oklahomans and keeping our families and communities safe have been central to my work throughout my career. I’m proud to stand alongside colleagues who share that commitment, and I appreciate the association’s work to pursue justice and protect victims across our state.”
