Senator Coleman Congratulates Outstanding Law Enforcement Officers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, on Thursday congratulated two constituents who
were named among the state’s top law enforcement officers.

Coleman praised Tulsa Police Detective Paula Maker, who was recognized as the 2026
Oklahoma Officer of the Year at a ceremony in Oklahoma City. Attorney General
Gentner Drummond created the Officer of the Year initiative to recognize and
celebrate the best and brightest Oklahomans serving in local law enforcement
agencies.

Maker, a Ralston resident, has worked for the Tulsa Police Department for more than a
decade investigating child homicides, severe neglect and other crimes involving
children. She has been a leader on many complex and drawn-out cases, including
some that have garnered national attention. She also serves as a mentor to six
newer detectives within her unit and supports fellow officers through the
department’s Peer-2-Peer team.

“Detective Maker is completely and totally deserving of this honor,” Coleman said. “She
has investigated some of the most difficult and heartbreaking cases imaginable,
all while keeping her focus squarely on protecting children. At the same time,
she is a compassionate mentor and role model within the Tulsa police force. Her
professionalism and commitment to delivering justice for victims exemplify the
very best of law enforcement and set a standard for others to follow.”

Coleman also congratulated Kay County Undersheriff Sean Grigsba on being one of more
than 40 nominees celebrated at the ceremony. He was one of just nine nominees
from the state’s northeast region.

“I'm grateful for Sean's dedication to keeping Kay County safe," Coleman said.
"Being recognized among Oklahoma's top law enforcement officers is a
well-deserved honor that reflects his devotion to law enforcement and the
residents of Kay County.”
