Senator Bryan Logan Issues Statement Following Shooting of Okmulgee County Deputies

"Yesterday afternoon in Okmulgee County, two of our sheriffs’ deputies were shot while responding to a disturbance and were injured in the line of duty. Both deputies have been treated at a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition, and a suspect is in custody.

I join our community in lifting them, their families, and all first responders in prayer as they recover from this frightening incident. These men and women put themselves between danger and the people they serve every day, and our thoughts are with them and their loved ones right now.

At the same time, this incident underscores the importance of respecting the rule of law and supporting the brave individuals who answer the call when we need help. We must continue working together — across communities and across the aisle — to ensure public safety and support for law enforcement while also building trust and understanding throughout our neighborhoods.

I am grateful that no additional civilians were hurt, and I will continue monitoring this situation as more information becomes available."
