OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate President Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton, R-Tuttle, today was honored with the Legislative Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), recognizing his longstanding commitment to strengthening public safety, supporting law enforcement and advancing policies that help dismantle drug trafficking operations across the state.

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics,” Pro Tem Paxton said. “OBN’s agents and staff are on the front lines of one of the most dangerous and complex challenges facing our state. Their work to seize deadly drugs, dismantle criminal networks and protect our communities saves countless lives every year. I am grateful for their dedication and proud to support their mission to keep Oklahomans safe.”

The award is presented to leaders who have demonstrated exceptional, sustained service in protecting Oklahomans from the dangers of illicit drugs. Pro Tem Paxton has been a key partner in legislative efforts to provide OBN the tools, resources and legislative framework needed to stay ahead of emerging drug threats, including methamphetamine, fentanyl and to combat the growing issues surrounding the illicit medical marijuana industry statewide.

OBN officials noted that Pro Tem Paxton has consistently championed public safety initiatives, worked closely with law enforcement and supported reforms aimed at enhancing investigations, strengthening penalties for traffickers and improving coordination across agencies.

OBN Director Donnie Anderson praised Paxton’s partnership and continued advocacy, emphasizing that strong legislative support remains essential as Oklahoma confronts criminal enterprises.

The agency continues to play a critical role in safeguarding families, children and communities across Oklahoma.

“Throughout his legislative career, Pro Tem Paxton has always been a steadfast ally,” Director Anderson said. "His leadership has strengthened our ability to respond to emerging threats and protect the public. This award reflects years of partnership and shared commitment to making Oklahoma a safer place.”
