OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt issued a statement following the governor’s final State of the State address and commenting on the beginning of the 2026 legislative session.
“The governor's State of the State was out of touch with the daily challenges most Oklahomans are facing. His proposals would make things worse by stripping away healthcare and staying silent on how folks can keep up on the rising cost of living. Senate Democrats are committed on putting people over politics to find real solutions to the problems Oklahomans face every day.
“All children deserve a great education. Hard-working Oklahomans deserve housing, insurance, and health care they can afford. They deserve wages that reflect their hard work. Right now, far too many people in our state are struggling, and none of the ideas the governor suggested today really alleviate those struggles. We have legislation that will address these issues, and are ready to get to work, reaching across the aisle to make real changes that will improve the lives of Oklahomans in every part of our state.”– Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City.
