Senate Democratic Leader Kirt comments on appointment of Alan Armstrong to fill Senate seat

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt issued the following statement after Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Alan Armstrong, chairman of the Williams Companies, to serve as a U.S. senator for Oklahoma on an interim basis. Under state law, he cannot run for the seat, which will be decided by Oklahoma voters in November.

"I'd like to congratulate Mr. Armstrong on this honor and express my appreciation that he has agreed to step into this role as a public servant. His expertise in energy means he has real perspective on cost of living and how challenging it can be for people to afford the essentials. I'm hopeful he'll have the vision to keep Oklahomans at the center of his work in the U.S. Senate. Senate Democratic Leader Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City.
