OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, received the Senate’s approval for Senate Bill 523 Monday. The measure provides that any Oklahoma sheriff, deputy sheriff, or reserve deputy sheriff shall have the same powers and duties as though employed by the sheriff’s office for which he or she is performing duties outside of his or her county of employment.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, has been appointed to a two-year term on the Energy and Environment Committee of the Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South). Boren was named to the committee by Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore Lonnie Paxton.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, said she is thrilled that Wiley Post Elementary in Oklahoma City has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council that will help combine art and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to fuel children’s imaginations and interest in learning.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Brian Guthrie, R-Bixby, welcomed the Bixby High School football team to the Senate floor Thursday to recognize their seventh consecutive state title win. Guthrie presented the 2024 Class 6A-1 State Champion team and coaches with a citation to recognize their numerous accomplishments.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Jonathan Wingard, R-Ada, released the following statement after an EF-1 tornado hit Ada this week, causing damage and displacing some residents.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Tom Woods, R-Westville, secured approval from the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee for Senate Bill 1114. The measure provides an ad valorem tax credit for qualifying Oklahoma seniors.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a series of tax reform measures aimed at simplifying Oklahoma’s tax code, providing relief to individuals and businesses and promoting economic growth. 

Senate Bills 304, 299, 291, and 60, authored by Senator Dave Rader, R- Tulsa, and Adam Pugh, R-Edmond, address income tax structure, corporate tax fairness and taxpayer relief mechanisms.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Todd Gollihare, R-Kellyville, today, received unanimous approval of Senate Bill 541 on the Senate Floor with a 46-0 vote.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Legislation aimed at enhancing incentive payments for Medicaid-contracted long-term care providers has advanced out of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
