About the Senator

Senator Lonnie Paxton represents the 23rd Senate District and serves as the Chairman for the Public Safety Committee and is also the Chairman of the Redistricting Committee. Born in Chickasha and raised on his family’s farm in Tuttle, his roots in the district run deep. He is a fifth generation Oklahoman, and has spent his life dedicated to his faith, family, and community.

Senator Paxton is a businessman, entrepreneur, volunteer firefighter, farmer and rancher. He is a graduate of Tuttle High School and the University of Oklahoma.

Senator Paxton has operated an insurance agency in downtown Tuttle for the last 24 years and owns and operates a property company, which has renovated several historically significant buildings. He also farms and raises cattle on land that has been in his family since before statehood.

He has served the community as a volunteer firefighter, mayor and city councilman. Paxton served on the Grady County Memorial Hospital board of directors, and is a former president of the Tuttle Chamber of Commerce.

Senator Paxton and his wife, Misti, have been married almost 30 years. They have four children: Seth is an attorney; Addison is in graduate school at OU; Ethan just completed his first year at OU; and Lillie-Beth will be a junior at Tuttle High School. Mrs. Paxton is a second grade teacher at Tuttle Public Schools. Senator Paxton is a member of Tuttle United Methodist Church.

Senator Paxton was elected as the State Senator for District 23 in 2016. His focus while in the legislature has been to increase government transparency, diversify the economy, create good-paying private sector jobs, support public education, eliminate waste and duplicity, and govern effectively.
