OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF


The Senate Chief of Staff oversees all operations of the Senate Service Staff by Senate rule 3-3. Among the Chief of Staff's Duties are:

  • Hiring, managing and developing a professional staff to assist the Senate in its legislative functions;
  • Provision of services to the Senate's members and committees including drafting, fiscal and research services;
  • Oversight of official communications of the Senate;
  • Dissemination of information to the Senate and the public;
  • Maintenance and improvements to the legislative process, including records, engrossment and enrollment of legislation, and such other services as may be prescribed;
  • Support Senate actions by providing research and policy studies;
  • Publish relevant and timely Senate information, reports and organizational information on the Senate web page;
  • Develop and monitor the Senate’s annual operating budget;
  • Reconcile all financial transactions and publish monthly financial reports;
  • Review and approve purchasing, payroll, travel, and all other requests for reimbursement.
