During his first four years in office, Senator Brinkley helped tackle some of the most pressing issues facing Oklahoma, such as legislation to clamp down on the production of meth, critical reforms to ensure the future stability of the state’s largest pension system while better meeting the needs of future employees, and tax relief to enable hard-working Oklahomans to keep more of what they earn and helping Oklahoma better compete for new jobs.

Rick was first elected to the Senate by an overwhelming majority in 2010, and was unopposed for reelection in 2014. In his first term, his fellow GOP senators chose him to be Majority whip. He was named the Economic Development Legislator of the Year, honored by the Oklahoma District Attorney’s Council and received the Eagle of Excellence Award from the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma. Now in his second term, he serves on the Energy, Finance, Pensions, Rules, and Appropriations Committees as well as the Sub-Committee on Appropriations for Transportation.

The first in his family to attend college, Rick earned degrees from both Langston University and Oral Roberts University’s School of Theology and Missions. He has also completed some doctoral work at Oklahoma State University.

Senator Brinkley’s diverse professional background entails business, public speaking, the ministry, and includes sixteen years in Senior Management in the non-profit Industry.

Rick is a much sought after speaker, conference leader and lecturer and has been featured on Good Morning America, CBS Evening News, and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
