The Senate Sunset Review
Committee approved the re-creation of eight entities
pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Sunset Law which
requires reviews of state agencies, boards and commissions
for the purpose of terminating entities that are no longer
performing their stated purposes. The entities which were
recreated for an additional six years were: the State Board
Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors,
the Oklahoma Accountancy Board, the Board of Governors of
the Licensed Architects and Landscape Architects of
Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Board of Embalmers and Funeral
Directors, the Long-Term Care Facility Advisory Board, the
Eldercare Program Advisory Committee, the Commission on
Marginally Producing Oil and Gas Wells and the Minority
Teacher Recruitment Advisory Committee. The Contingency
Review Board which is made up of the Governor, the President
Pro Tempore and the Speaker of the House was removed from
the 1998 sunset list and their enabling statute was amended
to remove them from provisions of the Sunset Law. The State
Data Processing and Telecommunications Advisory Committee
requested terminated and HB 2228
repeals the committee's enabling statutes and amends
statutes that made reference to the committee. The
Commission for Teacher Preparation was deleted from the
sunset list as their statute was amended in 1995 to remove
them from the sunset process. The Group Homes for
Developmentally Disabled or Physically Handicapped Persons
Advisory Board was deleted from the list for clean-up
purposes as they were previously re-created until January,
2000. The Interdisciplinary Council on the Prevention of
Juvenile Sex Offenses requested to be sunseted as did the
Task Force on Prenatal Substance Abuse. Both of these
entities were no longer active.
