Equal Pay Legislation Advances

Sen. Kyle Loveless Sen. Kyle Loveless

The Senate Business and Commerce Committee Thursday approved a measure to close the pay disparity between men and women. Sen. Kyle D. Loveless (R-Oklahoma City) issued the following statement:

“Equal pay for equal work is something that has been talked about for generations. Every President since Dwight Eisenhower has supported federal and state laws requiring equal pay for equal work. Unfortunately, Oklahoma women average 73 cents to every dollar a man makes. When my daughters grow up, I want them to be paid based on their work, not their gender. It is a simple concept that Oklahomans deserve.

“I look forward to moving HB 2929 on to the Senate floor and continuing the conversation on how we can close the gender gap without overburdening businesses.”

HB 2929 advances to the full Senate for consideration.
