Statement from Sen. Constance Johnson on grassfires in northeast
Oklahoma City
“My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes, vehicles,
and businesses in the tragic wildfires sweeping across northeast
Oklahoma City, along with those who have been displaced from their
homes, and the pastor and members of Harrison Bethel Baptist Church.
You are all in my and so many other Oklahomans’ prayers and
thoughts. It’s times like these that government can make the
difference in people’s lives, not only with the recovery effort
but in other ways as well. We are at your service to help in any
way possible as you adjust and work to get your world back to normal.
Hoping all will be well with everyone soon. God bless you in every
way.
Sincere thanks and appreciation to the Oklahoma City Fire Department
for their quick response and tireless efforts in fighting these
fires, as well as the fire crews from surrounding towns and Canadian
County. Our prayers are with you also as you continue to battle
these blazes. A special thank you also to all who have demonstrated
such an incredible out pouring of community support and generosity,
including offering up land for animals in need of evacuation, opening
homes to complete strangers needing a place to stay, volunteering
time, and donating water and food for firefighters and clothes for
those whose homes were lost. This is truly what community is all
about and we will need to continue with these efforts in the coming
days and weeks.
Please continue to pray that the fires are brought under control
soon. If we can be of assistance to you in anyway, please let us
know.”
