Pro-Tem Bingman Announces Interim Study on Bond Issues

The study will focus on bonding priorities

Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, announced plans to conduct an interim study for proposed bond issues. The senate leader opted for an interim study because various bond proposals were suggested this session and more information is needed about the bond packages before lawmakers consider the issues.

“We have a lot of capital needs in additional to existing bond obligations that need to be prioritized before we make decisions about additional bonding,” said Bingman.

The medical examiner’s office, the veteran’s affairs building, the Pop Culture museum, the Native American Cultural Center and other bond issues were all brought before the legislature this session.

“I want our members to be able to draw on as much information as possible before we approach these bonds in the future. All options will remain on the table and we will be evaluating the most fiscally responsible resolutions to these issues.”

Bingman said that he would appoint members of the interim study group later this summer.
