Sen. Dan Newberry
Senate
Approves Resolution in Support of Pregnancy Resource Centers
The state Senate on Wednesday approved a resolution supporting
pregnancy resource centers and commending their efforts to provide
comprehensive care to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies.
Authored by Sen. Dan
Newberry, Senate Resolution 82 praises pregnancy resource centers
for their efforts to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual
needs of women with free and confidential services.
Newberry said it was important that the Senate express support
for organizations that help women make life-affirming choices regarding
pregnancy and parenting. Passage of the resolution coincided with
Rose Day at the Capitol, an annual event where Oklahomans gather
to express support for unborn children.
“As hundreds of Oklahomans gather today at the Capitol to
promote and support the lives of the unborn, it is only appropriate
that the Senate honor groups that provide assistance for women who
choose childbirth over abortion,” said Newberry, R-Tulsa.
“Pregnancy Resource Centers operate primarily through voluntary
donations and the time and commitment of individuals who genuinely
care about promoting and protecting life. We strongly support their
efforts to serve women and men facing unplanned pregnancies.”
SR 82 also encourages Congress and state government agencies to
grant pregnancy resource centers assistance for medical equipment
and abstinence education.
