Statement from President Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee on Charter School Ruling
Oklahoma County District Judge Carolyn Ricks ruled Thursday that the
Oklahoma Charter Schools Act is Constitutional

“Charter schools are an amazing success story in Oklahoma, with many charter schools excelling in areas where traditional, urban school settings have not. I applaud the court for giving this issue a fair hearing, and accurately interpreting the law. Charter schools provide a much needed complement to traditional public education, and give parents a choice and an alternative for their children. We are hopeful that we may now finally put this issue to rest and move forward with other important reforms.”
