Statement from Senator Kenneth Corn on Behalf of Senate
Democratic Caucus
“The Senate Democratic Caucus was deeply
saddened to learn of the passing of Jarita Askins, mother of Lt.
Governor Jari Askins. Many of us had the good fortune to know
Mrs. Askins, and know that she lived a life of public service
and of strong faith—a legacy she shared with her children.
“Her service, citizenship and the example of her life as
a mother and as a community leader epitomize what makes our state
so special. We join the community of Duncan and with Mrs. Askins’
many friends and loved ones, especially our Lt. Governor and her
brother and sister, in grieving their loss, but also join with
them in celebrating a life well-lived.”
