CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER BILL PASSES SENATE
The State Senate approved one of President Pro
Tem Glenn Coffee’s government reform measures today, moving
Oklahoma toward a more efficient and effective government. SB
980 provides for a state Chief Information Officer, overseeing
and consolidating state information technology services under
one roof.
“I’m very excited about this very common
sense reform passing the Senate today,” said Coffee. “This
new office will greatly enhance the efficiency of state government.”
“The Chief Information Officer will get our
state agencies and departments speaking in one language technologically,”
he continued. “For too long, state government has had multiple
techno-kingdoms that cost us in real dollars and lost productivity,”
Coffee added. “The CIO will be a giant step toward moving
our state further into the 21st century.”
“I look forward to seeing this bill move through
the House and on to the Governor’s desk, and leading our
state into greater efficiency -- and ultimately, better service
and greater savings to the taxpayers of Oklahoma,” Coffee
concluded.
