Rabon and Pruett Laud
Appointment of Steve Burrage as State Auditor
Sen. Jeff
Rabon and Rep. R.C. Pruett on Thursday applauded Gov. Brad Henry
on selecting longtime Antlers banker Certified Public Accountant
Steve Burrage to serve as the state’s new auditor and inspector.
Burrage has served as president and chief executive officer of
FirstBank in Antlers since 1982. The former chairman of the board
of the Oklahoma Bankers Association has more than 30 years of experience
in accounting and banking.
“I couldn’t be happier about the Governor’s choice
to appoint Steve Burrage as our state’s new auditor and inspector,”
said Rabon, D-Hugo. “Steve is a dear friend with a tremendous
record of leadership and public service. He’s the right man
to restore public confidence in the office.”
Burrage currently serves as a board member of the Oklahoma City
branch of the Federal Reserve Bank, in addition to numerous financial
and civic boards.
Pruett said Burrage is highly respected in banking and financial
circles and was clearly the best choice for the office.
“He brings decades of experience to the position, and will
now be able to put his expertise to use as a leader for the state
of Oklahoma,” said Pruett, D-Antlers. “Steve Burrage
has been an active public servant for many years and is impeccably
qualified to manage the duties of the agency. He’ll do great
things for the state and bring integrity back to the office.”
Burrage will immediately begin his duties as Oklahoma’s
new auditor and inspector.
