For Immediate Release: May 2, 2007
Senate Leaders Name GCCA Members
Senate President Pro Tempore Mike Morgan and Co-President
Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee announced Wednesday 46 of the Senate’s
48 members have been assigned to the General Conference Committee
on Appropriations.
The conference committee, which will consider
legislation dealing with budgetary matters, will include every
senator other than the two leaders.
“We have found in recent years that including
nearly all of the members in the appropriations process allows
our budget to truly reflect the values of the Oklahomans we
represent,” said Morgan “With the naming of GCCA,
the Senate stands ready to begin work in earnest to complete
the state budget in a timely and orderly fashion.”
Coffee stated, “The naming of the Senate’s
GCCA members is the latest example of how well bipartisan cooperation
is working in the Oklahoma Senate. The naming of GCCA members
is further evidence of the Senate’s efforts to bring the
2007 legislative session to an orderly and timely adjournment.”
GCCA members, most of whom are divided into five
sub-committees, will join House members named to the conference
committee in writing the budgets of more than 80 state agencies.
Sub-committee members, listed below, will be joined on GCCA
by Co-Floor Leaders Senator Charles Laster and Owen Laughlin;
and Co-Appropriations Committee Chairmen Senator Mike Johnson
and Senator Johnnie Crutchfield.
