State Senate For Immediate Release: February 21, 2007 Bipartisan Sales Tax Holiday Measure Approved by Full Senate
A measure that would enact a “back-to-school” sales tax holiday in Oklahoma was approved on Tuesday by the full Senate.
“My
district borders Texas and I know how many people are saving up
to make that trip and spend their money outside the state,” said
Gumm, D-Durant. “This measure saves Oklahomans the travel, and
keeps millions of dollars in the state. This is a good bill for
families and retailers – today’s vote is good news for the
state.”
Barrington noted that the measure would reimburse cities and
counties that lose any revenue due to the sales tax holiday. The measure will now advance to a House committee for consideration.
