Senate Leader Comments on the Selection of Glen D. Johnson as Higher Education Chancellor

Statement by Senate President Pro Tempore Mike Morgan

“I commend the board for their sound decision to name Southeastern Oklahoma State University President Glen D. Johnson the new Chancellor of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

“President Johnson has a rich history of being an effective and brilliant leader in the State of Oklahoma while serving as Speaker of the State House of Representatives, and then as President of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

“I know him personally and consider him a dear friend and champion for education in Oklahoma. President Johnson understands that greater access to a higher education means a brighter future for the lives of countless Oklahoma students.

“As we embark upon our 100th year as a state, I find it only fitting that President Johnson will be at reigns as the new Chancellor of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

“I look forward to working closely with him on important legislation that will make the dream of a college education a reality for more working and middle class families in Oklahoma.”
