Additional Interim Study Requests Approved
Issues ranging from Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder to the construction and purchasing processes of
the Office of Central Purchasing are among four additional interim
study requests that have been approved by Senate President Pro Tempore
Mike Morgan.
Senator Randy Bass, D-Lawton, requested an official study of what
state and federal programs are available to persons with Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric
disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of
life-threatening events such as military combat, natural disasters,
terrorist incidents or serious accidents. Bass will chair the study,
which will be conducted by the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs
Committee.
Morgan approved two studies requested by Senator Judy Eason McIntyre,
D-Tulsa. The Senate General Government Committee, chaired by Senator
Earl Garrison, D-Muskogee, will conduct studies of potential changes
in the construction and purchasing practices and the possibility
of state employees being allowed to take non-personal leave time
to participate in court cases involving Court Appointed Special
Advocates. Eason McIntyre will also participate in the studies.
The Senate Appropriations Sub-Committee on Human Services, chaired
by Senator Bernest Cain, D-Oklahoma City, will study timely reimbursement
procedures for the distribution of funds to nutrition centers in
Oklahoma. The request was made by Senator Susan Paddack, D-Ada,
who will join the committee for the study.
