Senator Mike Morgan
Senate Leader Comments on Resignation of Higher Education Chancellor
Paul G. Risser
Statement by Senate President
Pro Tempore Mike Morgan
“Under the direction of Chancellor Paul Risser, Oklahoma’s
higher education system has been on the move.
“Chancellor Risser led the effort to create Governor Henry’s
EDGE (Economic Development Generating Excellence) project, focusing
Oklahoma’s economic development future on research and the
high-tech industry.
“His vision to strengthen Oklahoma’s research capacities
will make our state a key player in today’s growing global
economy.
“Under his leadership, we are making significant capital
improvements on college campuses across Oklahoma, graduation rates
have increased, more students are attending college and we are answering
the call of businesses for a more skilled workforce.
“His departure from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher
Education means a new chapter is soon to begin in this state, but
his passion for making Oklahoma a better place to live, work and
raise a family will be remembered for generations to come.”
