Morgan disappointed OEA has resorted to courts

Statement from Senate President Pro Tempore Mike Morgan

“I have not yet been served with the lawsuit and, obviously, we haven’t had a chance to study it and so I can’t make any specific comments today.

“I will say that over the years, the Legislature has worked with the Oklahoma Education Association to address the concerns of teachers in Oklahoma and the needs of our state’s public schools. I’m very disappointed that the OEA has decided to follow the advice of a national teacher’s union and take this issue to court in adversarial manner rather than being willing to continue to work improve Oklahoma’s schools."

Note to editors: The Oklahoma Education Association and three Oklahoma school districts announced today plans to file a lawsuit seeking the courts to force the Oklahoma Legislature to appropriate more approximately $1 billion more for Oklahoma’s public schools.
