Senate Republican Leader Glenn Coffee
Senator Lawler a ‘Late-Comer’ to Pro-Life Movement;
Should Stop Criticism of House
Senate Republican Leader Glenn Coffee said Democrat
State Sen. Daisy Lawler is a “late-comer” to the pro-life
movement at the state Legislature and should stop her criticism
of pro-life House Republicans, who have a long history of promoting
and supporting pro-life legislation.
“Sen. Lawler is a latecomer to the pro-life movement at the
Capitol, and she has very little credibility to criticize anyone
on the life issue given her voting record,” stated Coffee,
R-Oklahoma City.
On April 28, 2003, Lawler joined fellow Senate Democrats in voting
unanimously against a pro-life “informed consent” amendment
that was added to Senate Bill 492 by the House of Representatives.
“Sadly, if Sen. Lawler and a few more Senate Democrats had
taken a pro-life position back in 2003, we could have implemented
the protections for the unborn two years ago that she is now advocating,”
Coffee said.
