Senator Charlie Laster
Senate Judiciary Chairman Comments on
House Committee Passage of HB 2046
“Governor Henry and his bi-partisan task force
spent months developing a comprehensive package of workers compensation
reform. In the end this diverse group unanimously approved a progressive
plan which will reduce costs for business without compromising the
rights of injured workers.
“Speaker Hiett’s 187-page bill can only serve to force
partisan politics back into a process which the governor worked
tirelessly to depoliticize. The Speaker’s bill is full of
provisions that will add to the burden for Oklahomans injured on
the job and increase the skyrocketing healthcare costs of the system.
“The Senate Judiciary Committee will consider the governor’s
plan, Senate Bill 846, on Tuesday and we plan to move forward in
the bi-partisan, cooperative spirit established by Governor Henry
and the task force.”
