Senator James A. Williamson
Senate GOP Leader Calls on Henry to Criticize
Radical Homosexual Group’s Advertising Campaign
A national advertising campaign by a radical
homosexual organization from Oklahoma is “outrageous,”
Senate Republican Leader James
A. Williamson said today.
“The advertising campaign by Cimarron
Equality Oklahoma is consistent with the radical homosexual
movement’s aggressive actions to promote the acceptance
of homosexual ‘marriage’ in our society,”
Williamson stated.
Cimarron Equality Oklahoma is running an advertisement
in a national newspaper to convince businesses to stay away
from Oklahoma because of this November’s state question
to provide constitutional protections for traditional marriage
– defining it as between one man and one woman. The
group’s advertisement also makes a fundraising pitch.
“This is outrageous behavior. They are
using economic extortion to promote their anti-Oklahoma
values,” said Williamson, R-Tulsa.
“I challenge Gov. Henry and the Democrat
legislative leadership to join me in condemning Cimarron
Equality Oklahoma and their radical agenda. Oklahoma needs
a governor who does more than just pay lip service to traditional
marriage,” he stated.
Williamson predicted the group’s effort
will backfire.
“There is a real hunger for a return
to traditional values and for leaders who will draw a line
in the sand to help stop the moral decay of this country.
I believe Oklahoma’s efforts to protect traditional
marriage will help us attract new jobs and businesses,”
Williamson stated.
