Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival

Whereas, The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, an annual music festival held in the city of Guthrie, Oklahoma, is in its seventh year of assembling an outstanding lineup of the finest bluegrass musicians from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and bringing them to Oklahoma for three days of outstanding performances; and

Whereas, The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, is the product of a continuing commitment by three-time national champion fiddler Byron Berline, the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, Inc. and the community of Guthrie to bring a world-class bluegrass music event to Oklahoma; and

Whereas, The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, serves as a shining example of Oklahoma’s values and hospitality by attracting visitors from across the nation and the world, thereby promoting tourism in Oklahoma; and

Whereas, The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, seeks to increase public awareness of the history and merits of bluegrass music and its various styles, to support music education by raising thousands of dollars for youth music scholarships, and to encourage the preservation and development of one of America’s truly unique musical art forms; and

Whereas, this is a most appropriate occasion for Senator Mike Morgan, acting on behalf of the entire Oklahoma State Senate and the citizens of the Great State of Oklahoma, to express appreciation and congratulations to the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival for its role in promoting and supporting Oklahoma’s cultural life.
