Senator Hobson Comments on Investigative Audit
Of the Underground Storage Tank Indemnity Fund

“Last year, legislation that I carried in the Senate mandated an audit of the Underground Storage Tank Indemnity Fund. I was briefed on the contents of this investigative audit this morning.”

“Based on that briefing I have a number of concerns about the management of the fund – concerns I don’t believe would have come to light had the Legislature not mandated this investigative audit.
“Admittedly, I haven’t had a chance to fully digest all of its contents so I don’t believe it would be appropriate for me to comment on specifics at this time.”

“The Attorney General’s office will begin its own audit and will make any determination of whether further action is warranted.
“We do anticipate receiving a list of recommendations for potential changes in state statutes in connection with the Underground Storage Tank Indemnity Fund. We will consider those recommendations when we receive them.”
