Sen Coffee explains resolution honoring Westminster winner.

Winning at the Westminster Dog Show is something thousands of dog owners aspire to, but only a select few achieve. So after an Oklahoma City couples bloodhound won the prestigious title of Best of Breed at the 2003 Westminster competition, their State Senator wanted bring attention to the accomplishment. The Westminster show is second only to the Kentucky Derby as the oldest continuous sporting event in this country. If you have an interest in pure bred dogs, you know this competition is basically the equivalent of the Olympics. Winning Best of Breed is like bringing home the gold, explained Senator Glenn Coffee. Chuck and Wendy Musgrove of Oklahoma City are owners of Barkley the Bloodhound. His formal name is Ch champion Springbuk Raindance Rhapsody. His handler at the Westminster Show was Doug Carlson of Moore. Chuck Musgrove is also Senior Managing Editor at KFORTV in Oklahoma City. I understand that Chuck actually began as a photojournalist for KFOR, and covered quite a few stories here at the State Capitol, so I think its great that were able to bring him back here and give him a pat on the back for helping create some positive news about Oklahoma City and our state, said Senator Coffee. The Musgroves, Carlson and of course Barkley were on hand when a resolution was passed by the Senate on Wednesday honoring their win at Westminster. Barkley has been in the show ring since he was six months old and within the last two years ago hes earned 9 AllBreed Best in Show Awards and two National specialty wins. I never would have expected this resolution, but its really an honor. Barkley has been a terrific show dog and a wonderful pet. Westminster was his last show. Hes retiring from competition, but were hoping he becomes the proud dad to lots of future champion bloodhounds, said owner Chuck Musgrove.
