Senator Charles Ford announced the dedication of another original painting commissioned by the Oklahoma State Senate Historical Preservation Fund Inc. The painting, titled "45th Infantry at Pork Chop Hill, Korea" by nationally recognized artist and Vietnam veteran R.T. Foster of Oklahoma City, was unveiled during a ceremony in the House Chamber this afternoon.

"This painting is a testament to the sacrifices that Oklahoma's own 45th Infantry made in the defense of freedom. Mr. Foster's painting captures the struggle of those who fought so bravely at Pork Chop Hill, which was a key area of command during the Korean War. His work reminds us that we should never forget the risks that our armed forces have taken to protect us," explained Senator Ford, President of the Senate Historical Preservation Fund, Inc.

The painting is a gift of General Fred Daugherty, a decorated veteran of the Korean War and World War II who served the 45th Infantry Division (Thunderbirds) of the Oklahoma National Guard from 1934 to 1964. He also served as a U.S. District Judge for the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma. Since 1974, General Daugherty has been Chairman of the 45th Infantry Division Museum Board of Directors.

"General Daugherty is a native Oklahoman who has honorably served his state and his country. His gift is a legacy to the 45th Infantry and will hang proudly in the House of Representatives' fourth floor conference room," noted Senator Ford.
