Sen. Hobson Comments Governor Henry's State of the State Address

Statement by Senator Cal Hobson,
Senate President Pro Tempore

"Our new governor understands the tremendous challenges our state faces and the opportunity we have for emerging even stronger. While he has a very realistic view of the difficulties ahead, Governor Henry is approaching these concerns with optimism, energy and creativity. I think that's extremely important for our state, especially now.

"In the coming days and weeks we will be evaluating Governor Henry's recommendations, and determining what approaches will work best as we find ways to maximize the resources we have. I look forward to working with our state's new leader this session as we develop a balanced budget and public policy that best meets the needs of our state now and for years to come."

"I emphatically agree that we must not approach these challenges as partisan politicians, but as Oklahomans with the common goal of making our state the best it can be. Our ability to succeed hinges on that cooperation."
