Transportation

Nearly $150 million was appropriated to the Department of Transportation from the General Revenue Fund (SB 161 & SB 159) and the Rainy Day Fund (HB 1565) for the third year of the 5-year, $1.1 billion road plan enacted in the 1997 session.

For FY'00 the Legislature authorized expenditures for the following transportation programs (SB 159):

  • $1.5 million for public transportation;

  • $2.5 million for the Aeronautics and Space Commission;

  • $2.5 million for lake access roads, and

  • $2.5 million for industrial access roads.

The Legislature approved a $1.5 million plan to boost funding for the Aeronautics and Space Commission over the next three years. Under SB 398, $500,000 more in aviation fuel tax revenues will be added to the commission revolving fund each year in FY'00, FY'01 and FY'02. (SB 398)

SB 398 encourages development of Oklahoma airports by creating a tax credit on aircraft worth $5 million or more. The annual credit will be tied to expenditures the owner makes for the benefit of airports in Oklahoma.
