Senior Citizens


$1.5 million was appropriated to the Department of Human Services (DHS) to replace one-time funds that had supported the Long-Term Care ADvantage program. The program gives senior citizens an alternative to nursing home care by providing home health care and support. (SB 146)

The Legislature approved $2.5 million for DHS to replace one-time funds supporting the statewide Geriatric Day Care and Senior Nutrition Sites, which allow seniors to maintain independence and quality of life. (SB 146)

HB 1347 allows a sales tax exemption for equipment and supplies used for food preparation to "Meals on Wheels," "Mobile Meals" or other organizations receiving funding for senior nutrition programs.
