Smalley was raised by his grandparents, Ed and Aleta, in Stroud
and graduated from Stroud High School where he earned a music Scholarship
to the University of Central Oklahoma. While attending college,
Jason enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed
to both Iraq and Afghanistan where he served multiple tours.
honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 2006, Jason received
his college degree in Social Science from the University of Oklahoma.
After graduation, he worked as a technology consultant. Jason currently
runs and operates a restaurant in Stroud, Territory Cellars, and
is a third generation restaurateur and small business owner.
Jason was elected
State Representative in 2012, where he served on the A&B Revenue
and Tax, Common Education, and Government Modernization Committees
as well as on the A&B Transportation Committee as Vice Chair.
In 2014, Jason
was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate. He presently serves as
the Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and
is also a member of the full Appropriations, Energy, Judiciary,
and Education Committees.
He is also
active in the Lions Club, American Legion, and the local school
as a coach.
He is member
of the First Baptist Church in Stroud where he met his wife and
high school sweetheart, C’Anne. They have been married for
14 years and have three boys.
