Senator Wayne Shaw is proud to
represent the good folks of District 3.
Senator Shaw was born and raised on a
farm. He even went to a one room country school until he was in the
eighth grade. He has a degree in Secondary Education from Lamar
University, Beaumont, TX, with math and history teaching fields. He
also has a Master’s degree from Lincoln University, Lincoln, IL, and
a doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA.
Right out of college, Senator Shaw
taught in the public high school at Yellville, AR. He and his wife
Anna served as missionaries to Liberia, W. Africa, where he taught
in Liberia Christian High School and Liberia Christian College. Over
the past few years, he has served as an adjunct professor for
Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.
Senator Shaw has served as a pastor
most of his life. He served as the senior pastor at First Christian
Church in Grove for fifteen years before being elected to the
Senate. He continues to work with the present staff of the church
on a part-time basis.
Senator Shaw has officiated football
for the past 27 years. He served as volunteer chaplain for the
Grove Police Department. Before being elected, he served on the
board for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates—advocates for
neglected and abused children), Abundant Blessing Center (Pregnancy
Center) and Grove CAN (Community Action Network—drug prevention) all
Wayne married his wife Anna in 1968.
They have three children—Doug, Teresa and Timothy. They also have
four grandchildren. Over those 45 years of marriage, Wayne and Anna
felt led to foster numerous children in their home which enriched
their lives and broadened the ministry which they love so much.
