Senator Greg Childers, R-Del City, was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate on October 11, 2011 by the voters of Senate District 43. His district includes Oklahoma and Cleveland counties.

Greg ran for the seat after his predecessor Jim Reynolds (R-Oklahoma City) resigned the seat, effective July 1, after being elected Cleveland County Treasurer.

Greg met his wife, Melanie Hefty in 1987 and they were married in 1993. Together, Greg and Melanie are the proud parents of three active boys, Cameron 12, Connor 8, and Cole 6. They are known as the Triple C’s to their very proud Grandpa’s and Grandma’s. The three boys attend school in the Del City area. Greg and his family enjoy being outdoors and spending quality time together.

Greg worked at Norman’s postal training center for 20 years. He taught classes at the center for the University of Oklahoma the past eight years.

Greg is assigned to the following committees: Education, Finance, Veterans & Military Affairs, Public Safety and Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Judiciary.
