Health and Human Services

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee has jurisdiction over legislative issues and executive nominations relating to public health, health care, mental health and substance abuse services, and a range of human services issues such as social safety net programs, services for the aging population and people with disabilities, and services for children including juvenile justice programs and foster care services. Agencies of jurisdiction include the State Department of Health, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the Department of Human Services, the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth, the Office of Juvenile Affairs, the Department of Rehabilitation Services, the Office of Disability Concerns, the Physician Manpower Training Commission, the University Hospitals Authority, the Oklahoma State University Medical Authority, the J.D. McCarty Center, and licensing boards for health care practitioners.
